Since the weather was a wonderful 70 degrees, Remy and I worked outside. I had a number of plants to put in the ground, and I also decided to create a new garden spot. I plan to take some pictures tomorrow to share with you, when I have an opportunity to do a bit more outside. (It's supposed to be 78 degrees!)
Remy got to play with our 4-year old neighbor not once, but twice. Remy loves being able to say hello to everyone, so it made his day.
After a few hours of tearing up sod for the new garden, I was looking for distractions, so I decided to let the boys outside on their leashes. They enjoyed the fresh air and after they devoured enough grass to make them puke, they decided to sunbathe. All of them, except Beeker, who very easily caught and killed a vole in my tiered garden. He was quite anxious to carry the creature inside, pacing back and forth at the screen door with the incapacitated rodent hanging from his mouth. I fought the urge to scream and finally convinced him to move away from the door. I quickly ran inside to grab a treat to bribe him with in exchange for the vole. He obliged and while he chomped on his treat, I gathered the courage to pick up the vole and dispose of it. Ugh....I hate touching those things and I feel queasy even thinking about it!
In the evening, Remy and I went for our walk. I'm very excited to say that I finally feel like I'm getting back in shape, after nearly completely falling off the wagon shortly after we got married (three years ago!). Remy's quite active and normally needs two walks a day: about 1-2 miles in the morning and 3-4 in the evening. I don't always do both walks if I'm busy, but I do my best! Hilariously, though, in the mornings, he is so unmotivated to get out of bed. I literally have to put his leash and lift him out of bed. If I didn't have the leash on, he would hop right back in bed practically before his feet touch the floor. Talk about motivation, when I'm dragging my own butt out of bed for him at 5:30am! Oh, well. It's paying off and during our last two walks, I have been able to comfortably run for a bit. I cannot even remember when I last ran. Yeah!
