Go Away Bug! and Other Random Thoughts

No one wanted to look at the camera.

I have been pretty sick with a cold for over a week now and I'm tired of it. Today was the first day I could say I felt better, but I'm still not back to normal. Ugh...hate being sick.

Please keep my car in your prayers. Zach seems to think it's leaking transmission fluid and I really don't want the expense to replace the transmission or the expense of a new car payment. Argh...

On a brighter note, yesterday was a lot of fun despite still feeling a little sicky. Zach and I had a great dinner at Confit, where money was no object since we were dining out on not one, but two gift cards. Yeah! (And it's a good thing, because our bill was crazy expensive! Thanks, Mom and Dad H!) After dinner, we met up with Mom and Dad for the HSO performance of La Boheme which was spectacular.

Finished Project

This past weekend, I was able to start and finish a dog bed for Jack. It's not a fancy design, but it is top of its line in quality, comfort (4 inch thick foam interior and anti-pill fleece top) and size (almost 3 feet by 4 feet!) I hope he will love it as much as Mel and Thom think he will. So far it hits the spot for my kitties.

Motivation

Project Runway always gets me creatively motivated! I was so happy to find the DVD at the library today. Zach and I both enjoyed the episode with the drag queens from season five. I love this winning outfit -

While watching the show, I got some quilting done, which has been a tough thing for me to pull out lately because it's currently holding me back from doing anything else (I swore that nothing would get started until that got finished!).

One project that I will allow myself to squeak in would be a dog bed for Jack. Today I gathered all my supplies and will hopefully get that started tomorrow.

Aftermath

This tree out front succumbed to the heavy ice we had earlier in the month. Fortunately for us, it fell across our neighbor's driveway instead of ours. Technically the tree is on our neighbor's property, but when the weather clears a bit we'll have to figure out how to get it taken care of together.

Love Messages

For my valentine's gift to my husband, I extended the idea of Valentine's Day over a full month by creating this box full of love messages. Rather than make a big fuss on one day, I prepared daily notes filled with memories of our relationship or words of encouragement that he could open whenever he had the opportunity. Zach's not into this love holiday very much, nor a devourer of sweets, so I thought this gift might suit him well. So far, he is enjoying it, but there's still 26 more days and several special surprises to go!

In exchange, I received a nice dinner on Sunday night followed by an extra special treat - my own pint of chocolate cookie dough ice cream! Sweet!

House Guests

My parents' dogs came to our house this weekend to visit. Yesterday they were able to be off leash and a had a blast in the snow.
