A Combo of Two Posts in One Day

Relaxing

Today is Monday and I'm enjoying a day off. I hope to be as productive as possible at a relaxed, steady pace. So far, I'm right on schedule...

8:45am Rise and shine (well, not shine since it's very rainy today)
9-11am Work on employee schedule
12pm Take pictures of the boys* and freshly cleaned garage. Finish final touches to garage.
1pm Lunch/Blog
The rest of the day will include quilting and vacuuming.

*See above pics - they were all settled into their spots for the afternoon until I came around with the camera and woke them all up. (Well, except for the little one, Otis, who was not sleeping.) Don't you like how Wilbur decided to sleep on the roof of the cat bed? That is thanks to Otis who found out it's just spectacular that you can jump on the roof and fall down to create a comfy bed. It's super special, though, when he catches a cat who's sleeping inside! That happened yesterday to Wilbur who was blissfully unaware of this attack, until, of course, the roof collapsed on top of him.

The garage

Yesterday, Zach and I spent a peaceful afternoon working on the garage together. I say peaceful, because for some reason our projects together usually don't go well. I am a bit obsessive compulsive about how things should be arranged and he prefers to keep things exactly as they are (aka - exactly how things were moved into the house from day one.). Anyway, we both set out on the project with a positive outlook and we were able to accomplish a freshly cleaned garage that will fit both cars!! I was super excited and love it. I even have one of the racquetballs hanging from the ceiling to tell me how far I should pull my car in. Ha! Love it!

Oops

Zach was involved in a car crash on his drive to work today. The roads were wet and as he swerved slightly to avoid something (an animal?), he lost control of the car and it flipped over several times before coming to a rest on its roof. Zach was taken to the hospital from the accident scene, but has only a large lump on his head, a small laceration that required stitches, and a concussion. It's hard to believe it, but he returned to work within three hours of the accident (crazy by everyone's standards but his, of course!) and is recovering well.

The car, on the other hand, is a different story. We both drove to the auto shop to remove his personal items from the car this afternoon. The guy pointed to where the car was resting around the corner of the building, but as we approached the area I couldn't see it. Even as Zach pointed to the car, I couldn't believe it was his. It wasn't until that point that I realized the extent of the accident and how fortunate Zach was! Wow...

It's Never Enough

I returned from an 11-day vacation to MI yesterday and I was so pumped to have a full day to relax, recover, and finish up all those things I didn't quite get done during the drive. I have never had this luxury of an extra day after a vacation, and I thought I could accomplish it all. I was so excited!

Man, one day is barely enough! I'm thinking that a minimum of two days is necessary to really have success. The first day is the unpacking, laundry, and unwinding from the week full of visiting, conversation and travel. The second day would be your opportunity to get things done that were not accomplished during the trip.

Needless to say, I didn't even get to start the mental list I had prepared for the day. It's going to be a rough week...and to top it off I'll be pet-sitting this weekend, so I won't even be home to take care of things here at the house.

Stay tuned to a post of pictures and summary of the vacation when I get that chance, eventually, someday soon, hopefully...
