Making it quick

I have neglected this blog for a while now for two reasons...first is I am super busy with work and second is that all my work-related business puts me in front of a computer and I just need a break from staring at the darn monitor. But, I miss updating my own little blog here, so I'm giving myself 15 minutes to do a quick update. Usually I can never stick to such a time restriction, but I'll be kicking myself tomorrow when I have to get up at 5:30am.

This weekend...

We drove down to D.C. for a quick trip to visit Brian and celebrate Dad's birthday with the four of us. It was my first visit down there since he moved to a new place right in Dupont Circle. We had a fun time at a French restaurant and we got to enjoy the gorgeous weather while we walked around his neighborhood.

Aww...smile, Mom!

Welcome to facebook, Brian - here's your new profile pic!

Delicious lunch/dinner

Plenty of decorations to admire

Wondering how anyone gets up here to enjoy these seats

I had chocolate mousse for dessert...delicious!

Kitty updates...

I don't believe I officially announce our new kitten's name, though I'm sure those of you who actually read this (Mom and Mom ;) already know. But, just to be complete, our little guy is named Otis. He's a super addition to the family, though I don't think all of our four-legged friends would so adamantly agree with Zach and I. Oh well, we love him!

Growing up fast!

Tuckered out after playing with his mouse.

And other random tidbits...

Zach returned home from his visit with six pounds of gummy bears from Mom Mom and Pop Pop - I'm in heaven!! :-D

Don't set a 15 minute time limit on a blog update if you have pictures to upload. Man, this is taking forever.

I really want to make some Halloween bandannas for our patients at work...I just need the time to cut them out. I'm not sure if I"ll make my deadline.

Quilt is still in process...need to return to that soon!!!

Beeker soaking up the sun, trying to behave while we're in the kitchen.

Rambling

I safely returned from a drive to Chicago for an Idexx work convention. It was a 12 hour trip split up in two days going out and one marathon drive returning home. I didn't get to see much of the city as we were stuck at the hotel near Chicago O'Hare airport from Saturday-Tuesday learning about the computer program we use at the office. It was informative and gave us inspiration for areas to improve, so I'm excited about that.

Today the rain finally stopped. The grass is grossly over grown, but it is so waterlogged that it is impossible to trim at this point. In order to enjoy some of the sunshine this morning while I'm off, I decided to kill the first of three or four overgrown shrubs in front of the house. I wasn't sure if I could conquer the root ball, but I did and it's completely out. I was pretty proud of myself! The space is very bare now, but if I continue with the rest of the shrubs, hopefully I can get new ones in place within the next week or so.

Zach bought a new car this past weekend and it will be ready to pick up on Friday or Saturday, depending on when we can both get there to sign paperwork. It's a Subaru Impreza. Four wheel drive was our goal with all of the crazy hills and the longer commute we'll have to deal with this winter. (I don't even want to think about it...) We're excited!
