Bathroom Makeover

So, I have finally finished the downstairs bathroom. Here's a view of the work that I did.

The original bathroom had a dark, wood-grain wallpaper with golf phrases and had a contrasting border. The trim was painted dark green. The wallpaper wasn't in great shape and had started to peel away from the wall on its own.

The project began by removing the wallpaper, which was no problem after Dad taught me how to do that during the upstairs bathroom make-over. The walls were painted tan, the vanity and cabinets, originally a wood veneer, were painted a light sage green and the trim was painted white.

This the the bathroom after the initial painting was complete. Originally, this was the end of the make-over. However, I was truly dissatisfied with the way everything looked. After some additional thought, I decided to add stenciling.

Mom was an amazing help with the stenciling. Despite the fact that both of the homes I lived in when I grew up were covered floor to ceiling in stenciling, I never helped her with them.

I had a plan, but she helped to put it into action and taught me how to stencil. Over a weekend, we got the majority of the stenciling complete. It was a lot of fun and absolutely transformed the bland background.

In addition to the stenciling, I removed the large mirror and replaced it with a small, framed mirror. The change also dramatically altered the appearance of the room.

The completed project! I am so pleased. Thanks, Mom, for your help with this project.

  1. Wow! The stenciling is beautiful. New mirror makes such a difference as well. Congratulations on your makeover!
